FAQ's for Chariton Valley's Lifeline & Link-Up Program
What is Lifeline and Link-up?
Lifeline assistance provides discounts for monthly basic service. Lifeline is available on one telephone service per household, whether wireline or wireless.
Link-Up reduces the cost of initiating new service.
How much can I save on my wireless phone bill?
CVWS (Chariton Valley Wireless Services) offers two Lifeline Plan options, Lifeline One is a $15.00 plan and Lifeline Two is a $20.00 plan. These rates are prior to a credit of $8.25 from the federal line and local service exchange discount.
Are there any restrictions?
Lifeline can be used for one telephone per house-hold-either wireless or wireline. You must provide proof of eligibility before the service can be activated.
All about Link-Up
Link-Up helps households pay the activation charge for telephone service. This program pays some of the cost of installing local service in your home, but does not cover the cost of a phone.
How much will I save using Link-Up?
Link-Up will pay 50% of your activation charges of $50.00.
How do I know if I am eligible?
If you qualify for Lifeline, you also qualify for Link-Up.
Are there any restrictions?
The Link-Up discount cannot be applied to activation charges you incurred before you applied to the program.
How do I apply for Lifeline and Link-Up benefits?
Applications are available at your local wireless office.
When does the discount end?
When you no longer receive benefits from any of the programs that made you eligible for the Lifeline Program.
What do I do when my current situation changes?
Notify your local wireless office immediately and inform them of the changes to determine if you are still eligible.
*Being a Lifeline or Link-Up customer does not protect you from being disconnected if you fail to pay your telephone bill. Normal collection practices apply.
